Abstract: CAB International (CABI) is a not-for-profit and treaty-level intergovernmental organisation with 48 Member Countries. It seeks to improve people's lives worldwide by providing information and applying scientific expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment. Since China joining CABI in 1995, collaboration between both parties has been sustainably continuing. The strategic partnership reached a milestone when Chinese Ministry of Agriculture-CABI Joint Laboratory for Bio-safety was successfully established in 2008. The Joint Laboratory is currently implementing 10 key international cooperation projects in the field of biological control, within which the major target pests include Apolygus lucorum Meyer-Dür, Halyomorpha halys (Stål), Drosophila suzukii Matsumur, Chilo suppressalis (Walker), Tryporyza incertulas (Walker), Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenée), white grubs, cut worm and Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. etc. Good progress has been made in basic research of biocontrol and development of applied technology. Innovative participatory approach has been applied for technology dissemination, application and transfer. Appropriate technical advisory service model such as plant clinic has been tested and adapted to local conditions. Proven biocontrol technology has been successfully transferred from China to other developing countries with the aim to strengthen local capacity and sustainably control agricultural pests.

Key words: biological control, integrated pest management, technology transfer, international cooperation
